I truly believe that your morning routine sets up your day! I don’t know about you but when I snooze my alarm so much that I wake up when my kids wake up, it throws me off for the day. I’m waking up myself, trying to change a diaper, get milk ready, make breakfast and I am left feeling very frazzled. That’s why having a perfect morning routine (whatever perfect means for you) is crucial! So… how do we create that routine? Keep reading!
What to Include in Your Perfect Morning Routine
The perfect morning routine is going to look different for everyone SO think about what would feel good to you. Maybe it’s waking up and meditating. Maybe you want to get your workout in right away. There’s no right or wrong answer. This routine is YOURS!
Some ideas of what you might include:
- Meditate
- Journal
- Read
- Yoga
- Workout
- Affirmations
- Write out your daily tasks/plan your day
- Work on something you’re passionate about
What I do recommend is FIRST drinking a glass of water before doing anything! This gets your body going and wakes you up a bit. Then if you enjoy coffee, tea or preworkout (me!), have that. Then, choose a few things that will make up your perfect morning routine.
My current morning routine:
- Wake up and change into my workout clothes
- Drink a glass of water
- Make my preworkout
- Journal – I write out daily accomplishments from the day before and take time to dream big and envision my best life and write about that
- Affirmations
- Read personal development (about 5-10 minutes)
- Workout

How Much Time Do You Need
Now that you have your perfect morning routine written out, let’s decide on timing! Knowing how much time you want to spend on each items will give you an overall time to wake up! For example: I know that changing into my workout clothes, drinking water and making my preworkout takes about 10 minutes. Then, I head down to my garage to finish my morning routine. It takes me about 10-15 minutes to journal, 2 minutes to read/say my affirmations and then I read for about 5-10 minutes. That part of my morning routine takes about 30 minutes. Then, I workout for 30 minutes. Knowing my kids wake up around 6 (6:30 on a good day) tells me that I should start my morning routine around 5am.
